DIETARY SERVICES AVAILABLE:
Dietary modifications & weight control are such personal issues that often involve many changes to your eating habits and lifestyle.
* One-on-one personal visits in the privacy of your home enable me to better understand your needs and thus tailor a program to suit you, no matter what your particular problem.
· You will learn to make the changes necessary to enable you to control your weight and at the same time make better nutrition choices for all family members.
· As a qualified dietitian/nutritonist I have the knowledge and expertise to work with you and your family doctor, if you have special dietary requirements.
· All the dietary information and materials I use, are based on the Australian Dietary Guidelines and those of the National Heart Foundation and the Nutrition Australia Foundation.
· I advocate only fresh, natural foods and do not advise the use of supplements, i.e. vitamins/minerals/slimming formulas, etc. unless indicated by specific needs and endorsed by your doctor.
· A menu plan will be prepared for you, based on your preferences wherever possible. Then as you progress, you will learn to plan menues for yourself. I assist with recipes, shopping hints & reading food labels.
· I will assist you to plan an exercise routine taking into account your physical capabilities.
· You will be taught strategies to overcome inappropriate eating behaviours and how to plan for future events.
I can provide dietary advice for all the following conditions - diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, lacto-ovo vegetarian, hypoglycaemia, insulin resistance, osteoporosis, iron deficiency, irritable bowel syndrome, lactose & fructose intolerances, coeliac disease, diverticular disease as well as general nutrition advice for all ages, including active sporting people, disordered eating and malnutrition for older people.
D.I.E.T.S. do work. A definition of the word diet is "one's habitual food" - therefore yours has worked very well, too well perhaps, so far! You will learn to ADJUST your diet so that IT will work better for you. |
